- Transfer of the building insurance
- With the land-register entry the existing building insurance passes to the buyer by law (§ 95 VVG). The change of owner must be reported to the insurer without delay, by seller or buyer (§ 97 VVG).
- Special termination
- The buyer can terminate the contract taken over within one month, counted from the entry or from later knowledge of the contract (§ 96 (2) VVG). Before terminating, check the loan agreement: many banks require continuous building cover.
- Condominium
- The common property is insured by the owners' association (§ 19 (2) no. 3 WEG). You neither take over nor terminate a building contract of your own; the policy comes from the property manager.
- Partner offers
- Where the account offers them, offers labelled “Advertisement” appear. Only with your consent does ImmoDok pass name, e-mail address, postcode and property type to the named partner, and it receives a commission for this. ImmoDok gives no advice and compares no tariffs.
Step by step
- Open the Mappe's “Overview”. At the bottom is the “Insurance” section with the parts that fit your property and role.Editing requires write access to the Mappe
- After buying a house: put the insurance policy in the Mappe, inform the insurer about the change of owner and mark the step with “Mark as done”.“Notice template” gives you text to copy
- Enter when the land-register entry took place. ImmoDok then shows until when you can terminate the insurance you took over. One month from the entry or from later knowledge
- Record earlier claims under “Claims history” with “Record a claim”: date, type, insurer's payment, resolved or not, optionally with evidence from the Mappe. The list goes with the Mappe when you sell
- In an emergency, “What to do after a loss?” opens the basic statutory duties in the order they arise.Limit the damage, report, photos, receipts
- Depending on the property, notes appear on the heating-oil tank, on a new build from acceptance, and links to your federal state's official flood maps. The maps open at the respective authority
The result: Policy, notice to the insurer, termination window and claims history in one place, and when you sell, the buying side knows what has happened.
Important: ImmoDok is not an insurance intermediary and gives no insurance advice. ImmoDok sends no notice and no termination to the insurer; you do that yourself. What your contract requires is in your policy conditions.

What if it does not work?
- The “Insurance” section is missing.
- It appears only when one of its parts applies, and not for a plot of land. The post-purchase steps are shown only to the buyer of a house, and only for a limited time after the transfer.
- I passed on my contact and no longer want that.
- Click “Withdraw consent” on the offer. The partner is informed; a contract already concluded is not affected. Also contact the partner for deletion.
- An offer does not fit me.
- “Not relevant” hides it for this Mappe.
